ahover color .style1 border-collapse collapse solid border-width 1px .style2 solid border-width 1px .style4 solid .style5 margin 10px .style6 border-width 0 powerseller favourite seller - click to add large antique french rococo clock. french - circa 1880 excellent condition, fully overhauled amp working a large and stunning original antique french brass table clock in lovely condition. the style is rococo, waisted keyhole shape with acanthus leaf shoulders, c scroll bracket feet and surmounted by a cherub holding a sundial. it stands on its original integral base. the dial is heavy cast brass with a acanthus bezel fitted with convex glass. 24 individual enamel cartouches are mounted for the hours and the minutes. fretted and blued steel hands are original. below the dial is a torch and quiver of arrows. to the sides are delicate and elaborate leafy fretted panels backed with red velvet. the rear door also features a stunning fretted panel, backed with red velvet. the design is beautifully bold and heavily moulded in brass, well chased and finished. it is modelled in the round and so would display very well on a table. the french movement is of very high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. it has the retailer clockmakers mark a c inscribed on the backplate. pendulum is a replacement. it runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a large, sonorous bell. click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running condition of the case is excellent with a clean and bright finish and there are no losses. there is some minor wear surface scratches and discolouration in places. the door catch is a little loose but still functions. we have replaced the red velvet with new. the dial is also in excellent condition with no damage to the cartouches, just a couple of minor nibbles to the edges. there is some original blue freckling to the cartouches which mus

please note post is not free. i had to list that to get international window up, no other way as i could not determine postage packs, sizes, cost, etc i am sadly listing this magnificent antique lamp and other antiques and collections as i have moved into a small unit. i am an oil lamp collector and am an electrician so also sometimes buy old unusual electric lamps. i have replaced the ancient wiring on this lamp. unfortunately provenance is unknown. underneath is a simple gallery typed note that it is a bronze statue of a miner. i dont believe this is so and from my oil lamp experience think it is spelter. it is of large proportion 550 mm high and overall width 400 mm and very heavy. the miner looks northern european because of his clothing, hat and boots or clogs , someone out there will know exactly. i have always displayed it with the smoky shade which compliments it but the white milk glass shade in the fotos is the original. i did not want it broken. clothing is an umber colour with gold shadows. the original brass and porcelain lamp holder and brass gallery is fine. the globe is a flickering candle type. the miner pick is cast iron and lifts out of the hand and is reversible. the hatchet below is fixed to the ore base used in old time mining to cut and shape the timber supports in mines. the lamp is from victorian times 1800s and is very rare, i have never seen anything similar in a lifetime of lamp collecting. if some of you recognise it i purchased it years ago from a closing down or change of ownership sale from an substantial antique gallery on a main highway in northern nsw where it was a not for sale window display for many years, unless you had the many thousands of dollars to get them to part with it, i had tried a few times over the years to buy it. this lamp is in perfect condition for its over a century age. at some time it looks like the miners face has been repainted gold as it is a bit bright. it works fine and makes a fantastic desk lamp or dis

a better than average example of these heavy slate french mantle clocks. this one was sold new here in brisbane back in the 1880s and has been in the same family ever since. the retailers name of snow bros. brisbane is still visible on the dial. on the back of the movement it is impressed with the well known french makers mark of r amp f paris and the date number of 1878. the pendulum number matches the movement number of 5814. it has just been fully serviced and is keeping excellent time and runs for eight days, striking the hours and half hours on a bell. the black slate case is nicely engraved with floral and vine patterns and highlighted with gold and silver gilt. on iether side of the dial are bronzed pillars of women and on the case sides are bronzed hanging handles. there is also a bronzed swag piece on the top plinth. it is in excellent original condition with just a few minor nibbles from the exposed slate along the edges as per photos. height 44cm x width 34cm x depth 16cm collection by you or your carrier.i offer free delivery and setting up in your home to the brisbane metro area.check my other sales for more clocksi am open to offers of clocks, pocket watches and mechanical wrist watches as part or full trade ins particularly looking for rolex omega etc. divers watches any questions, more photos, message or talk to me on 0418 445882 phil smyrk

this longcase is in good working order and keeping excellent time, the eight day movement striking on the hours. made by thomas fletcher of barnsley in the uk. the case is oak and mahogany and stands about 7. this was a recent trade in and has not been serviced by us hence the low asking price, however, it has been well looked after and checked over and is guaranteed to be in good working condition. the unusual painted dial looks to have some kind of masonic images in the arch. someone several years ago has stuck a label in the door with the makers name and the date of 1816 which i have left for posterity. the case has classic north country feet in that there were only ever two at the front, none were added to the back, that way it was easier to level on a flagstone farmhouse floor and was pushed flush against the wall and firmly attached with a screw to stop any movement the same can be done today collection by you or your carrier. i offer free delivery and setting up in your home service to the brisbane metro area. i also offer this delivery and setting up service anywhere along the eastern sea board and melbourne at your expense, contact me for a price. check my other sales for more clocks i am open to offers of clocks, mechanical wrist watches and pocket watches in any condition as part or full trade ins particularly looking for divers watches any questions, message or talk to me on 0418 445882 phil smyrk

georgian oakmahogany and ebony longcase clock by lyon of doncaster circa 1820. the clock is 227 cm tall ,53 cm wide and 22 cm deep.it has a swan neck pediment with a brass paterae finial.the hood has reeded corinthian columns and brass capitals.the case has the same reeded column detail.the door is shaped with ebony stringing inlay matching other parts of the case. the case is in good condition for its age there are some small cracks to veneer and wear and tear consistent with the age.overall its in great condition.the eight day clock movement has been overhauled in recent years and goes well.it is intact with two weights and pendulum. i have a buy now price and open to reasonable offers.

color general eclecticindustrial relics and bespoke lamps this is a strand rank theatre fresnel spotlight, made in england. the patt. 123 strand first appeared in 1957 and i believe this example to date from the mid 60s. the shape is heavily influenced by the work of raymond loewy and the streamline design movement. it is constructed of cast aluminium. the lamp has been professionally polished to a high shine. all rewiring has been undertaken by a licenced electrician and tested. all metallic parts on the lamp are earthed, something which is essential for safety, required by law and largely ignored by backyard restorers. the lamp has been converted to accept a domestic edison screw globe and rewired with new braided-cloth sheath cable sympathetic to the age of the piece nothing sticks out on a lovely old lamp like a modern plastic cord. the tripod is of wood and nickel-plated brass construction and has also been completely restored, with both the metallic and wooden components polished. wax, not modern varnish, has been used on the timber. i believe the tripod to be a local copy of an american craig-thalhammer item. these were used extensively in the film industry, making it a good pairing for the lamp. this lamp has been finished to the highest standard by skilled craftsmen working together to produce a piece that will satisfy the most discerning collector of mid-century design. this is a large item and as such i would prefer local pick up annandale, sydney but i will consider packaging it for a courier service at extra cost by arrangement.im happy to answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability. please look at the photos carefully as they form part of the description. contact is to be made within 24hrs of end of auction and full payment is required within 7 days. failure to do so may result in the transaction being cancelled and the item relisted.note the photo of the label show 120v. that is because this lamp was imported. it is now 240v.
